Rhythm of our Days
We provide a relaxed and predictable schedule for the children in our school.
Below is the famework for our day; however, the times are flexible and
are adjusted based on the day's activities.
9:00 - 10:00 Work in Interest Areas
Parents sign children in at arrival time.
Children go to work in either the Construction Room, the Big Room or the Art Studio.
There are many invitations to learning prepared for the
children to explore during this time.
We provide a balance of nature, art, math, letter play, sesory,
creative play, construction, writing, cutting, fine motor,
and language experiences throughout the day.
10:00 - 10:40 Music & Movement, Gathering Time & Snack
Music & Movement
The children are drawn into the Gathering Room by the sound of music
and begin their daily Gathering Time with movement and music activities.
Dancing with scarves or ribbons, bean bag games,
rhythm sticks, and egg shakers are some of
the items used by the children during this time.
After their Music & Movement activities the children
hear great stories, learn finger plays, read poetry, and more as the
teachers help them develop literacy skills through exposure to
language, listening, predicting outcomes and reflection.
Snack
Children in the preschool participate in "share-a-snack" each day.
Families take turns providing snack for the whole class.
The children eat family style and share stories.
10:45 – 11:00 Chapel
Teachers and children attend chapel once a week in the church Santuary.
Our Pastor, Melanie Miner, teaches the children about Jesus through the retelling of
Old and New Testament stories, Christian storybooks, puppets, and more.
11:00 - 11:35 Outdoor Adventures
We view playground time as an extension of the classroom
(we even have a teacher who writes curriculum for the playground &
prepares the outdoor environment each day!). Children are given opportunities
to participate in science experiences, art, construction activities, and more while outside.
11:35 - 11:55 Table Activity & Share Time
Table Activity
This is a time for the children to work with their class teacher
on a slightly more teacher-directed activity. Oong-term projects,
science experiments, and additional art lessons are some of the things
that may be introduced during this time.
Share Time
Children and teachers wrap up the day with discussions
of the day’s events and sharing any stories the children have dictated.
12:00 Pick-Up Time
Our parents gather outside of the garden fence and
wait for the children to come out at the end of the morning.
Each child is signed out by his/her parent.
Have a great day!!
